Talking hands-free and interrupting

Talk back and forth without touching anything, and cut in whenever you like.

A hands-free conversation is the way Orb is meant to be used: you talk, it answers, it listens again, for as long as you like.

Start and stop

  • Choose Hands-free conversation in the bar. Orb listens, and answers when you pause.
  • To finish, choose End the conversation, or Leave hands-free conversation.

Interrupting

You can talk over Orb while it is speaking. It stops to listen, keeps what it had already said, and treats your words as your next question. If all you said was “stop”, it simply waits for you.

This is the Let me interrupt setting, under Start here in the Knowledge base panel. It is on by default; switch it off if you would rather Orb finished every answer before listening.

Adjusting the sensitivity

With Let me interrupt on, Interrupt sensitivity sets how much you need to say before Orb stops. Move it towards Harder to set off if background noise or a stray word keeps stopping it, or towards Easier if you want it to give way at once. Orb tells its own voice, coming back through your speakers, apart from yours.

Tips

  • Headphones make interrupting work best, especially in a noisy room.
  • On a phone, keep the screen on and Orb in front during a conversation.
  • Prefer to type? Use Messenger view.
