Adding your material

Upload documents and web pages, file them under a mode, and see where an answer came from.

Orb answers from the material you give it. The more of your own notes, documents and saved emails it has, the more its answers sound like your work rather than anyone’s.

What you can add

  • PDF and Word documents
  • Plain text, Markdown and CSV files
  • Saved emails, as .eml or .msg files
  • Web pages, by pasting their addresses

How to add it

  1. Open the Knowledge base panel from the bar at the top.
  2. Under Add sources, choose files, or paste web addresses one per line.
  3. If you have more than one mode, choose which ones to file these under. A document filed under Church is read in Church mode and not in Work.
  4. Add them. Each one appears under Indexed documents once Orb has read it.

Where answers come from

When it answers, Orb draws on the passages of your material that fit the question, and names the document when it matters, so you can go back to the source. If you have switched on web search for a mode, it may also look things up online, and it tells you when it does.

Documents Orb writes for you

Ask Orb to write something, such as an outline, a summary or a letter, and it keeps the result as a PDF in your knowledge base. You can open it there, and Orb can search it later like anything else you gave it.

Removing something

Remove a document from the Indexed documents list and Orb stops using it straight away.
